As stated in the rules, when mating your character you must wait a week before birthing your character's offspring on the forum so we don't have an over abundance of characters, with no one to play them, running around. You want to make sure they're adopted out to people who will actively play them, rather then push them back and never touch them, and that week of waiting gives you plenty of time to find a suitable play for that.
As for aging. Once your character's offspring has been born, from kit hood they will age one moon every two days. A kit becomes an apprentice at the age of six moons, so that's less then two weeks for your to develop your character's personality as it tumbles around the nursery in all of it's fluff and cuteness!
Try to remember to roleplay your kit accordingly to it's age. At two moons, I don't think a kit is going to be tackling and play fighting yet, more rather crawling around with half-open eyes and mewling for more milk.
Once your kit progresses from the Nursery onto apprentice hood is aging will be slightly slowed to one moon per week, this being so your character can learn everything it needs to know and so you'll have plenty of time to role play them out through their apprenticeship. Your character isn't going to get promoted instantly to a warrior at five days out of the Nursery, I can tell you that much.
Take time role playing our your apprentice. Have them get into some trouble, sneak out of camp, meet up and become friends with another clan member, something! There's so much to do when you're role playing with an apprentice so feel free to take your sweet time working and developing their traits and personality.
