~Timber Zone- A Silver is born~
With the moon high in the sky animals slept until the new sun rose once more, the small cries of a pup was the only sound heard in the dead of the night. A mother wolf had just given birth to a new baby boy as her mate and eldest son watched. "Oh darling he's beautiful," He said as he bent to nudge his son more toward his mother, she smiled with a small yawn "Just like his father" she replied. The small pup latched onto his mother's nipple suckling the milk she produced, "sleep my love you need the rest" he said as he licked her head before turning toward his oldest son. "Come, let’s allow your mother and the newborn to sleep" they both moved out of the small hut shutting the door behind them. The father sat down "You know Shadow, this young pup may finally be the new Silver Wolf" he smiled as he looked at the night sky. Shadow sat Silently as he looked into the distance not acknowledging his father with a response, "That's nice Lucas...now if you don't mind I have a patrol to do." Lucas watched as his son walked off "That's father to you!" he chuckled softly as he started the walk up to the mountain to hang out in his cave. Soon the sun began to rise upon a new year, the pup was still young but he was able to run around under his mother's supervision. As Lucas sat atop his cliff watching over the town but mainly keeping eyes on his son Shadow appeared behind him in a puff of black smoke. "Lucas has Ace given you the morning report yet?" he asked as he walked up sitting next to his father, "What happen to dad or father?" he asked his son. "That went out the window long ago" he told him "Well? did Ace give you the report or not?" Lucas shook his head "I sent Ace and the hunters for breakfast, the females were hungry along with the pups." "Right well there's a hole in the south gates, I had it patched but we need to find out what made it, something has been trying to get in" he stood up looking around before jumping off the cliff. Lucas watched his son as he landed on the ground below with grace, "that is one weird kid...how did I make something like that?" he said to himself before he looked up seeing the hunters come back. Lucas jumped down howling to call all females and pups to breakfast, he walked over toward his mate and sons watching the others eat. It wasn't long until it was the males turn to eat they devoured the meat, Lucas sat by making sure everyone was well fed before dragging the rest of the meat out of town for the pups without a pack. He went back to his family to play with his son and teach him a bit about the world, the days were peaceful for the village for the moment. This allowed everyone to play around with no worries, some lead a group of pups to the field while the parents slept in. This village had yet to see real trouble until now, as the wolves lazed about some mothers readying their pups for slumber while the fathers secured the borders. The ground began to rumble, the females began to panic as the males took action to see what was going on. Lucas looked at his mate "Stay here!" he told her before taking off in a dead run for the mountain, he needed to get a clear view of what was headed for them. He looked around once he got to the top but didn't see the problem, "Sir!" his beta called "a pack is headed our way!" Lucas looked around. Shadow appeared behind him "Fang is leading the pack" he told him as he waited to hear his father’s plans, "Shadow I need you to get the children and mothers to safety." There wasn't any other thought in Lucas mind but stopping them as he jumped down from the cliff he joined his pack stepping to the front and waiting for Fang's arrival. Once the pack of wolves came to a stop the leader Fang walked up to Lucas circling him "Ah if it isn't the Silver Wolf himself" he stopped sitting in front of him "what do you want fang?" Lucas growled. "To finally bring hell down on you and this forsaken village" he looked back to the team he brought with him "Get them all! Kill everyone of them!" Lucas jumped for Fang but was pushed back. "Ace help Shadow get the mothers and pups to safety!" Ace ran to do the task he was ordered to do, Lucas then ran after Fang to stop him, the ground began to break apart with lava rising up from the broken ground. Lucas realized this was worse than he imagined as hell hounds appeared out of the Lava, he howled to his team to fall back and stay together. They were greatly outnumbered by Fang and his pack of hounds, he was ready to go back on the attack until he heard his mate scream. "Sarah!" he ran to his mates aid seeing a hell hound stand over her body, he saw red after and went after the monster, his every intention lay within killing the hell hound. Shadow appeared behind his father rushing to check on his mother, "Ma'?" he said softly as he nosed her body, his black fur reflecting the moonlight. When Lucas finally took out his frustration on the hellhound he looked up walking toward his mate licking her softly. "Rest well my moon goddess, I will join you when my job here is done” he looked at Shadow with a growl “Take your little brother and run, and don’t stop until you collapse” “But where am I supposed to take him Lucas?” he growled back “The house in the City, no one will find him there.” He took off again to help his pack take down this threat, Shadow growled picking up his younger brother before taking off toward the City, sticking to the shadows of the night. The pack fought hard they forced Fang to retreat with his hell hounds, he wanted and needed his pack to be safe. Lucas walked around the village assessing the damage, he knew he wasn't going home anytime soon and wondered if his son was alright. The hardest part for him was burying his mate, the mother of his kids and the other half to his heart. Shadow gotten Jay to the house in the city, the pup was asleep by the time they gotten there, he sat him softly on a pile of blankets on the floor. "What am I supposed to do with this kid?" he asked himself as he walked to the front window looking out of it. Shadow didn't know how to take care of this pup, he wondered why his father entrusted the task to him and not to his beta's. He found a spot in the house sitting down to meditate while keeping an ear out for the kid, though his brother was only a year old he figured the pup should have been on his own by now. He was on his own at that age and wondered if his father was going to show up soon or send his right hand to take over babysitting. Days passed he only heard from his father only a few times out of the month, then days turned into months, months a year. When Jay turned two, Shadow began leaving the boy home alone, he would wander outside to see if his father was coming or Shadow. Things progressed on this path until when the young pup turned five his father died in a fight with the wolf named Fang. The betas then took on the responsibility of taking care of the pup, raised him like any other.

~Chapter 1- Almost grown~
"Come on Jay, wake up we need to do some training today" pushed the beta wolf as he climbed on the bed sitting on the young human boy, Jay woken up looking at the wolf above him and yawned. After learning of his father’s death the pup didn't have no motivation to get out of bed, "but I'm tired could I sleep a little longer?" he whimpered. "Nope I need you up so we can train today, you need to get ready for when you are older and take control of the pack," He told him as he jumped off the bed. "Right now we have no alpha, you are to be our next alpha," He said as he watched Jay slowly slide out of bed trying to shake himself awake. "But I thought wolves were supposed to challenge each other for the Alpha position?" he asked in a small voice, "where did you hear that?" Ace asked as he tilted his head to the side. "I read it in the book mom got me...dad said she wanted me to read it when I got older but it did last a night" Ace chuckled softly shaking his head, "Of course, you are your mother’s child and she was a speed reader like you would never believe." When hearing about his mother Jay smiled, he stripped from his Pajamas and pulled on his day clothes "But is it true Ace? Why do I have to be an Alpha?" he asked. Ace thought a moment "Well, it was passed down to you from your father...being the Silver wolf is going to be a lot of responsibility but I can get you ready for it." He told the young pup as he stood up "and no it isn't true no one is allowed to challenge the Silver wolf for his Alpha status" he began to walk out "Finish up and meet me downstairs." Jay watched him leave before going to the bathroom, he finished up his morning routine before going downstairs seeing the pack laying around "Is Shadow going to be there?" he asked Ace. "Goddess I hope not..." he cleared his throat before looking up at Jay "Uh I mean he might be, I'm not sure" before he could grab Jay and run out with the pack Shadow appeared.
"I heard everything you said you little runt" He glared at Ace his red eyes dark as blood, "Jay you need to train on your own, you don't need me to hold your hand" he growled. "But I like when you're there big brother, please?" he begged "Forget it, I'm not going to sit around just to watch you get your ass kicked, face it kid you will never be ready to take over the throne," He said before disappearing in his cloud of black smoke. "Ignore what he says Jay...he doesn't speak the truth" Jay looked down nodding slowly but deep inside he knew Shadow had some truth behind his words. Jay climbed on Aces back and the pack moved out heading to the village to train and hopefully get a little better.
Later that day when noon rolled around, Jay was laying in the grass field resting from his training, he was drifting in and out of sleep until Shadow walked up to him. He opened his eyes just watching his brother not saying anything, "Get home" was all that was said before his brother was gone again. Jay sat up looking around for Ace, the wolf left and he wondered how far he went, Jay got up sniffing the air to try and locate his friend. He followed it to the nearby river seeing him lay there just watching the fish, he walked up silently before petting his head. "Ace?" he called softly, Ace lifted his fluffy head up looking at Jay "What do you need?" he asked "Oh well...Shadow said he needed me home could you walk back with me?" he asked him. Ace stood up stretching before nodding "I sure can, climb on" he bent down enough for Jay to climb on and put his arms around his neck.
Ace made sure to take his time with the walk, he didn't want to get to the house and have Shadow ruin the pups day with his growling. Ace would never challenge Shadow to a fight knowing the dark wolf’s tricks and his insane need to see blood he wouldn't stop till a lot appeared. "Well Jay, did you like today's training?" Ace asked as he just entered the forest "Yes but I thought training meant fighting?" he asked "Well half the fight, but it's not always about throwing your fist and hoping to land a hit...it means to use both spirit, knowledge, and body." (mental physical and spirit) "I don't get it" "Alright so today's lesson was meditation, it's a part of calming yourself and not going into a blind rage, think about the situation and how to best defuse it." "Oh well how am I supposed to get in touch with my spirit, do I call to it?" he asked as he sat up reaching up to the leaves and touching them, "Well kinda but its like you...find your inner self" "I still don't understand" he whimpered softly "You will once you're a bit older pup don't worry." Ace came to the end of the trees and broke into a run "If your brother doesn't see you soon he might come after us" Jay took a fist full of his fur and held on tight.
Ace came to the house letting Jay off before walking through the back door, Shadow sat on the back of the couch stuck in a trance, Ace cleared his throat as he appeared but he didn't move "Shadow..." the dark wolf finally lifted his head "Beta, head back to the village tell the females to stay inside and double the male patrol, then," He told him as he stood up. "Is there something coming? if so tell me now so I know how to better prepare our people" "Your people not mine...I only stay until the runt gets older than your on your own elder"
"Look just tell me what’s going down you damned devil dog" Ace growled. "You may have been Lucas right hand man but you damn sure mean nothing to me" he growled before disappearing. Ace looked down at Jay who sat under him hugging his paw "Its alright pup, why don't you stay here and work on your meditation?" he said as he got up nuzzling him before running out the door to get the town in order.
Later as Jay was in bed Ace came back jumping through his open window, he climbed in bed with the pup allowing Jay to hold onto him. "Ace?" "Ya pup?" he lifted his head "Is dad with mom and the goddess?" he asked softly "Ya he is" he nuzzled the pups head "Sleep Jay, tomorrow is a new day and you needed to be rested for more training." Jay nodded and hugged Ace tighter before falling into a deep slumber, his dreams were only of his mother her sweet and caring smile. He dreamed of when she would sing him to sleep as a pup while he nursed from her, she would tell him how much of a strong wolf he would grow into. His sweet dreams were interrupted when a dark shadow loomed over him and his mother, he turned to only see the monster who killed his mother. The wolf bared his fangs with a deep growl coming from his throat, before the monster was able to chomp down on his mother's throat he was being shaken awake.
Opening his eyes slowly he lay there looking up at his ceiling wondering what his dream was about and if he should tell someone about it. He sat up slowly to see Ace beside his bed "It’s time to begin training" Jay glanced out of the window seeing the sun had yet to show itself, "But it’s too early," He said as he rubbed his eyes. "I know but the earlier we start the more we can get done, you need to learn this stuff" he walked out of the room waiting for Jay to get dressed, "Is Shadow gone again?" he gotten out of bed pulling on a shirt and pants before walking out "For the moment he is." Instead of training in the village Ace wanted to train the pup in the yard close to home so he was safe, they were having weird things go on in the village.
Training for two hours Jay was allowed to take a break, it was almost 8 am and he decided to walk around to the front yard and look around the streets. He saw the kids dressed up with bags on their backs "Ace where are they going?" he asked as he turned to him, "School I presume, Kinda like your training but they train their minds a lot more than anything else." "Can I go to school?" he asked softly as he sat in the grass watching them walk in groups to a big building close to his home, all kids were headed there and it made Jay wonder. "Maybe I don't know, I have to talk with Shadow seeing as he is your keeper" "But he may say no" "Don't worry I can talk with him...for now just get some water so we can keep training." Jay nodded walking into the house getting his cup from the fridge that was always filled with water, he drank some before putting it back looking toward Ace.
They went back for the rest of training for another hour before Ace allowed Jay to rest and take the rest of the time for himself, Jay went to his room to find a book to read. He picked up the reading book his mother use to read to him before bed, he opened it to his favorite part where the little boy kisses his mother good night before sleeping.
It was still early in the day there was time left for many things, but he felt like taking a nap his eyes dropping slightly as he yawned endlessly. Jay looked around for Ace seeing him in the corner with Shadow the two whispering in hushed voices. He walked over looking between the two “Ace what’s happening?” he asked as he pet his fur a bit Ace glanced at him before shaking his head putting on a smile for the boy. “Nothing Jay why don’t you go and play for a bit...Rose should be here soon with the other pups” he informed him as he looked back toward Shadow with a small growl. Shadow didn’t say anything until Jay was out of earshot, Jay sat on the floor with a notebook practicing his writing and numbers.
Soon the doorbell rang Shadow walked toward the door looking out the small window before opening it, he looked around the streets to see a young woman fleeing before looking down at a sleeping infant. He turned slightly to look back at Ace making the male step up to inspect the basket “Well, Don’t just stand there gawking like an idiot bring it inside” he grumbled as he waited. Shadow growled lifting the basket before taking two steps back and slamming the door, the noise woke the sleeping baby.
“Bravo Genius…” Shadow glared at Ace not liking his smart remark “Well? Pick her up! You can’t leave her crying” he told him as he sat down next to Jay who was just curious as to what was going on. Shadow grumbled as he reached into the basket picking up the female up holding her in the air “Hush you little mutt!” he growled. It was quiet for all of two seconds before she surprised them all by laughing at Shadow, something broke in him as he pulled her close holding her in his arms. Jay stood up spotting the note in the basket handing it to Shadow “You forgot this” he said holding it up, Shadow took the note reading it before looking back at the baby girl “Yumi.” “What?” “Its her name beta mutt, she's dads daughter” he crumpled up the note burning it into ashes. Ace nodded a bit as he sighed “she's so tiny…” he mumbled as he sat down “Gonna look after both runts huh mutt?” he asked with a knowing smirk “No I do not have a human form and you know it.” “Well then you better find someone to take them both on because I’m not,” Shadow said as he sat her back in her basket, she was silent as she looked around at them all talking, “But you are the big brother, you should be the one taking care of them” “You may be old but you are not my old man...So find someone else to take care of these runts!” Shadow growled as he stood against the wall waiting. “And how the hell do you expect me to do that? Start making calls, bark and how into the receiver and hope to the holy goddess that they understand me?” Shadow glared at Ace his Jaw set with a small growl “I don’t care how you do it, just find someone mutt!” “Yea I guess you don’t care who I get either, guess I’ll go hire one of those outsider wolves to watch the two.” Shadow growled even more “Go to your room Jay, take the pup with you” “You’re asking a pup to lift a pup, so bright!” Shadow just about went for his throat “You are dead! I will drag your ass to hell myself!” “Try me!” Ace yelled back as he stood ready to take on the disrespectful wolf. “Stop! Please!” Jay cried out as he tried hard to dry his eyes but the tears kept falling “I hate when you two fight...Dad would not have let it happen” he sat on the floor hugging his knees. Shadow rolled his eyes before disappearing, Ace walked over toward Jay licking him and pushing him over. “Come on kid don’t go all cry baby on me now” he sat in front of him “Why did someone leave her here Ace?” he asked as he sat up “Well it’s a bit hard to explain pup but trust me ok?” Jay nodded as he walked over to the basket as the half wolf began to cry “Well come on I’m going to need your help to make calls” he said as he retrieved a little black book from below the floor board. The two spent an hour calling around to different people looking for the perfect person to babysit the two little ones. When they finally picked someone who could start right away Ace went to meet her while Jay tried his best to calm the infant and rock her to sleep. Shadow appeared picking Yumi up into his arms starting to rock her, “Why are you fussing?” he mumbled as he looked around. “You must be starving no food or anything…” he walked into the kitchen looking into the fridge before taking out the milk he gotten for Jay, he walked over to the cabinet pulling out a small bottle filling it before giving it to her. She drank a bit before starting to cry again, Shadow shushed her as he rocked her a bit more looking up as Ace walked into the house. “Thought you wanted nothing to do with her?” Shadow ignored him as he continued to rock her “Where did you get the bottle?” Shadow shrugged a bit “From hell…” “Right...why don’t you go back where you came from” he turned looking around for Jay “Where did you go Jay?” he walked around a bit. Shadow put Yumi back in the basket as she settled down to sleep “Losing pups already?” “Shut up and leave” Ace growled as he walked up the steps. Jay stood outside looking up at the moon and stars, Shadow walked out standing next to him “Do you miss father?” he asked. “I miss no one, lucas lived like he was raised and went down fighting like a true wolf so learn from it kid” Shadow turned away before disappearing, Jay walked into the house seeing Yumi sleep in her basket. Ace came back down the steps “Oh there you are, Sonya should be here soon” Jay nodded a bit “Ace what is she?” he bent down looking at Yumis white ears and tail “She’s a...half breed...I will explain more later, for now let’s wait for-” “Hello? Ace?” The young female stood in the doorway looking in “Oh please come in we don’t bite, well the pup might but we don’t” Ace laughed softly. Sonya entered the house with a smile as she looked around “Well I went out and bought things for the kids, my brother is going to help me bring it all in.” She picked up Yumi’s basket moving it to a safe place so she wouldn’t get injured being in the way of the walk path, a tall male with short hair and baggy clothes came in with both hands full of bags. He sat them all where he could making at least four trips, huge boxes, big bags, and even little ones Jay was able to help with.
A bit later it was only four A.M. Jay couldn’t sleep his mind was busy with questions about Yumi, he went down stairs to see Sonya in the middle of a bottle feeding, the half breed silent in her arms. “Why are you awake?” Sonya asked without turning around, it took Jay a moment to answer as he wondered how she knew he was there “Ace isn’t in my room, have you seen him?” she stood walking toward the crib putting the little one down “Come here Jay” she called before walking into the kitchen. Jay walked slowly behind her watching from the doorway, he had yet to trust her. She was pouring milk into a cup before she placed it into the microwave “How old are you Jay?” he tore his eyes away from the warming device “I’m....Five” he put his hand up showing all five fingers. “Well you are a big boy” she smiled turning to the microwave as it ‘dinged’ he watched as she brought the mug to him. Jay looked inside “Why did you warm up milk?” “Trust me, drink up you have a big day tomorrow” Jay nodded a bit before drinking the warm milk licking his lips after with a soft sigh then a yawn before Sonya helped him to bed.
The next morning Sonya was waking Jay instead of Ace “What’s going on? Where’s Ace?” “He will be walking you to school, now get dressed,” She told him as she showed him the clothes she wanted him to wear before walking out. “School?” He quickly jumped up to dress himself in the clothes laid out for him before making his way down the steps seeing Ace sitting by the door “Are you ready kid?” He asked with a smile. Jay nodded with a huge smile, Sonya came into the living room handing Jay a brown paper bag “eat this at lunch time, and have a great day.” Jay took the bag running out with Ace next to him, “sonya is great!” “You think so? I do think she does a great job with you two” “She got me into school! This is so awesome I want to howl” Ace stopped Jay looking at him “You know not to shift right? You have to stay all human till you are back home behind closed doors.” Jay nodded as he pet Ace “But what if my wolf gets restless?” “It won’t just remember your breathing training and you will be fine” Ace began to walk again, it didn’t take long for them to arrive at school. When they spotted Ace some of the mothers began to back away, a teacher walked over looking between the two, “Ah you must be Jay and Ace Sonya said you were on your way” the young man smiled “If you would like Jay Ace is able to sit with you in class, Sonya Faxed over his service papers” “Service papers?” Jay looked at ace then back at the male “Yes service animals are able to go anywhere with there owners.” “Why do I need a service animal?” he asked as he glanced back at Ace “Well, as Sonya explained you may need some adjusting to the school system also this new city...it can be hard for kids who aren’t use to this.” Jay didn’t understand it all but he did as told walking in with Ace behind him, he could feel childrens eyes on him and quickly grab for Ace’s fur. As the school day went on lunch time was just rolling around, guided by Ace and a teacher he was taken to a spot he could eat his food in peace. He could hear the children begin to whisper about him, he looked back at Ace as he found some grass behind the tree to lay in. Jay began to take out the lunch that was packed for him, as he began to eat someone walked up toward him taking his small cup of applesauce from him. “Hey!” he growled “Give that back it’s not yours!” He was angry that the kid was touching what Sonya packed for him, he could feel his wolf stir with the anger. “I don’t think you need it kid...Dogs don’t eat applesauce.” Jay stopped his growl looking confused “Dog?” he tilted his head a bit “I’m not a dog!” before he could say more he saw a kid with cherry red hair walk up behind the bully.
